Pet bereavement councelling
I’ve worked as a dog trainer for the past five years, helping owners build positive relationships with their pets. After losing my French Bulldog, Bentley, last September, I experienced first-hand the deep pain of pet bereavement. With the support of my other dog, Callie, I found the strength to heal and was inspired to train as a Pet Bereavement Counsellor. Now, I combine my professional skills with personal experience to offer a safe, non-judgemental space for others grieving the loss of their beloved pets.
How a Pet Bereavement Counsellor Can Help
Losing a pet can be one of the most painful experiences we face. A pet bereavement counsellor provides a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about your loss. Grief is often misunderstood, with some people dismissing it as “just a pet,” but the bond we share with our animals is deep and real — and so is the grief when they’re gone.
A counsellor can help by:
-
Listening with empathy and understanding.
-
Validating your feelings without judgement or minimisation.
-
Guiding you through the stages of grief at your own pace.
-
Offering coping strategies for managing emotions and daily life.
-
Supporting you through related challenges, such as changes in routine, feelings of guilt, or loneliness.
-
Helping you honour your pet’s memory while finding a way to heal.
My role as a pet bereavement counsellor is not to “fix” your grief, but to walk alongside you, providing comfort, understanding, and reassurance as you navigate one of life’s hardest journeys.
If you are grieving the loss of a beloved pet and would like support, I offer both online 1-to-1 sessions and group sessions in a safe, non-judgemental space.
You don’t have to go through this journey alone — whether you need someone to listen, guide you through the stages of grief, or simply understand without judgement, I am here to help.
